Occupational Therapist – Outpatient/Acute Care

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs invites applications for an Occupational Therapist to provide direct patient care in an outpatient/acute care setting. The role supports veterans with functional limitations, enabling them to regain independence and improve quality of life.

Base Pay Range

$76,741.00 / yr – $ / yr

Qualifications
  • United States citizenship
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English
  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy and two (2) years of clinical experience OR Master’s degree or higher in occupational therapy
  • Active National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) certification
  • Unrestricted state license to practice occupational therapy in the United States
  • For graduate occupational therapists: pending NBCOT certification/ licensure may be accepted under a temporary appointment (GS‑9) with full appointment pending credential attainment.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients’ functional status, identifying impairments and setting measurable goals.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that include therapeutic activities, modalities, and, when appropriate, splint fabrication and adaptive equipment instruction.
  • Supervise and mentor occupational therapy interns and students responsible for clinical services.
  • Maintain a safe, efficient, and well‑equipped outpatient clinic environment; identify hazards and ensure supplies are adequately stocked.
  • Collaboration:

    Work with interdisciplinary teams—physicians, nurses, speech‑language pathologists, and social workers—to integrate OT services into overall patient care plans.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, providing data and contributing to program development and evaluation.
Work Schedule

Full‑time, Monday to Friday, 7:30 am–4:00 pm. Telework is available only for ad‑hoc, short‑term assignments; no full virtual position.
