* * The Shasta-Tehama-Trinity Joint Community College District (Shasta College) sits at the northern end of the Sacramento Valley, surrounded by mountains to the north, east, and west. The area provides a wide array of outdoor amenities and activities with miles of hiking and biking trails, national parks, two lakes, and the Sacramento River. The main campus is located in the city of Redding, population 90,000.
The area is characterized by excellent schools with high graduation rates, low traffic, and low housing prices (Zillow average 393,000 vs. California state average of 770,000).

** DESCRIPTION OF BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
** To perform a wide variety of highly responsible auditing, accounting, bookkeeping, and clerical functions in support of the day-to-day accounting operations related to district fiscal services and special program accounting. Employees in this classification receive limited supervision within a framework of standard policies and procedures; exercise responsibility for the accurate and timely processing and maintenance of district accounting records including but not limited to all aspects of purchase orders and requisitions, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and state tax filings.
Employees in this classification may coordinate with and review the work of other district employees. This job class functions at an advanced journey level providing accounting and audit support service for all district departments, requiring the maintenance and processing of accounts and records which are district-wide in scope and require a thorough knowledge of district accounting procedures and standards, in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
** CLASSIFICATION:
** Range 35 on the current Classified Salary Schedule, 40 hours per week, 12 months per year. Work assignment hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
**** This is a classified position with a default CalPERS retirement.***

* Essential Functions:
* Maintains, processes, and audits District fiscal/accounting records, journals entries, subsidiary ledgers, and transactions related to assigned area(s) of specialization including but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, special program accounting, reconciliations, and cash receipting.
* Reconciles internal accounts against external applications, investigating any discrepancies and ensuring district policies and procedures are adhered to.
* Audits, monitors, reconciles, and adjusts assigned accounts based on information gathered from internal and external applications.
