Compensation: Hourly starting range $24 - $34, Commensurate to skills and experience.
Hours: 40 hours (Full-time);
Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm.

Position DescriptionMaas Energy Works is seeking a Staff Accountant for our large renewable energy development and operations organization. This position will be responsible for performing various accounting tasks, including financial record-keeping, reconciliations, month-end close, financial statement preparation, and reporting. As a fast-growing company in a developing niche industry, the ideal applicant should possess strong problem-solving skills, be highly organized, self-motivated, and have a background and education in finance or accounting.
Responsibilities- Maintaining and updating accounting records:
This involves recording financial transactions, categorizing them accurately, and ensuring data integrity within the accounting system. - Preparing financial statements and reports:
The staff accountant will play a crucial role in preparing financial statements such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. The staff accountant will also be involved in creating ad hoc reports, such as variance analysis or budget tracking. - Analyzing budgets and creating expense reports:
Assisting with budgeting processes, analyzing financial data to identify spending trends, and preparing expense reports. - Reconciling general ledger accounts:
Regularly building and comparing statements with internal accounting records to identify and rectify any discrepancies is essential for ensuring financial accuracy. - Tax preparation and compliance:
The staff accountant may assist with tasks related to tax preparation, ensuring adherence to tax regulations and filing deadlines. - Providing support for audits:
The staff accountant may be involved in preparing documentation and assisting with procedures during external audits. - Staying updated on accounting standards and regulations:
Continuous learning and keeping up-to-date with the latest accounting principles and industry regulations is crucial. - Using accounting software:
Proficiency in accounting software is essential for efficiently performing many of the tasks mentioned above
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics
- Two years of accounting experience preferred
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize
- Self-starter mentality
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
