This position has direct contact with incarcerated individuals.

ResponsibilitiesThe work you'll do includes skilled installation of plumbing systems, providing lead work and direction to licensed plumbers, unlicensed plumbers, other skilled trade workers, and incarcerated individuals, and inspecting plumbing projects and repairs, whether existing or new.
Minimum QualificationsTo be qualified for and considered for this position, applicants must meet all of the minimum qualifications listed. Include beginning and ending month/year for each job held in your resume.
- Possession of Minnesota Master Plumber's License
- Valid Minnesota Class D Driver's license
- Leadership skills sufficient to provide leadwork direction, prioritize and assign duties, direct lead workers, guide, and report on activities of other staff.
The following qualifications are strongly desired:
- Commercial plumbing experience
- Experience with electronically controlled plumbing
- Experience in a correctional facility
- Ability to read blueprints and work from sketches/drawings approved by plumbing authority (local/state)
- Ability to make sketches and prepare specifications
- Ability to maintain and repair hand tools and welding equipment
- Ability to maintain plumbing project records accurately
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety measures related to trades work
- Experience working with local and state regulatory authorities on plumbing permits, plan review, and inspection
The completion of pre-placement physical components may be required (e.g., tuberculosis screening, CDL drug test, respirator clearance). The selected finalist may be required to review and sign a Physical Demands Analysis (PDA). For a copy of the PDA, email Tracy Larsen at tracy.c.larsen.us.
Additional RequirementsThe selection process may include screening for criminal history, predatory offender registration, offender associations, and other background information in accordance with Department of Corrections policy. Top candidates must pass a criminal history check, including probation requirements. Employment history/reference checks, including incidents of sexual harassment, may be conducted. New employees will be fingerprinted within 30 days of employment.
