Recycling Operator

Position: RECYCLING OPERATOR
Goodhue County is actively recruiting qualified applicants for the full-time position of Recycling Operator at the Goodhue County Recycling Center located at 3745 Highway 61 North in Red Wing, MN.

Primary Responsibilities

• Operating hook truck or semi-tractor/trailer unit to pick up materials from satellite locations & outside businesses and/or deliver processed materials to markets.
• Operating conveyors to sort plastics, aluminum & tin
• Operate horizontal baler for aluminum, cardboard, paper & plastic
• Operate vertical baler for textiles, glass crushers, forklifts, skid loaders
• Participate in maintenance of recycling center site including buildings, grounds keeping, & snowplowing in winter.
• Participate in the ordering of equipment and contracted maintenance as authorized.
• Schedule & conduct educational tours for the public

This person must be able to function as part of a team, as well as be capable to participate in collections of recyclables and perform other duties as assigned. The candidate must possess the ability to verbally communicate effectively and efficiently.

Minimum Qualifications:

This position requires that the person have a valid driver's license with a Class A CDL, and a high school diploma or equivalent. The candidate must be physically capable of mounting/dismounting equipment, standing, bending, reaching, throwing, etc. for 8 hours or more per day. The candidate must have the ability to work in a light-industrial setting, in an office, in motor vehicles and outdoors in all weather conditions.

Salary & Benefits

County employees receive competitive pay and a generous benefit offering. The starting salary for this position is $27.20- $28.56 per hour.
