The non‑destructive test level 2 technician provides NDT inspection support to production and quality operations. The non‑destructive level 2 position has knowledge of relevant NDT technologies and can operate unassisted on routine tasks on a deployed multi‑functional team and helps ensure the quality system meets stakeholder requirements including technical compliance and, adherence to inspection processes and standards. Supports the production process with technical knowledge for inspection of part fabrication, and assembly.
Uses "state of the art" NDT technology as it applies to inspection techniques for part fabrication and assemblies.
- Works under limited supervision from level 2 lead, level 3, managers and, program leadership in a team environment.
- A professional expert for NDT of composite components and large aerospace composite and metallic assemblies ensuring parts and assemblies meet industry standards and customer requirements.
- Ultrasonic, inspection of manufactured parts and assemblies.
- A key member of team(s) that work from engineering requirements to assist level 3 in inspection processes & methodologies, including providing guidance to lesser experienced team members; provide NDT training to trainees.
- Generates non‑conformance tags in accordance with internal processes.
- Adheres to all applicable business & quality processes and procedures such as FAA, DoD, Export Control, ITAR, NADCAP, AS9100 and customer contractual requirements.
- Maintain positive team relationships with internal and external customers, as well as peers.
- Other related duties as required due to changes in business processes or customer requirements.
- Must be a US Citizen or a Permanent resident per ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) guidelines.
- This position is not eligible for Visa sponsorship or a foreign person per ITAR.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Documented level 2 classroom training (80 hours) that is compliant to NAS 410 Rev 5 in ultrasonic inspection. (eddy current and penetrant a plus.)
- Documented and signed level 2 OJT training (800 hours) that is compliant to NAS 410 Rev 5 in ultrasonic inspection. (eddy current and penetrant a plus.)
- Documented previously certified NAS 410 level 2 in ultrasonic inspection (eddy current and penetrant inspection a plus.)
- Experience with ultrasonic testing of monolithic laminates, sandwiched core, co‑cured laminates, and metal bond assemblies.
- Experience with PAUT using semi‑autonomous gantry/robotic systems, MAUS V system and, RSFlite.
- Experience with TTU using semi‑autonomous gantry/robotic systems.
- Ability to read, interpret, and evaluate ultrasonic A/B/C scan data.
- Ability to understand, communicate and present complex technical information to a wide audience.
- The candidate will be proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Understanding of engineering principles & practices such as reading engineering drawings, interpreting customer specifications and, internal NDT specifications.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, great attention to detail and exceptional communication skills.
- Experience with NADCAP certification.
- ET and/or PT certifications desired but not required.
