Job DescriptionResponsibilities:
- Operate a Class 1 commercial vehicle on long-haul routes,
primarily on the Dempster Highway to Inuvik, with flexibility to go to other points in the Manitoulin network. - Ensure safe and timely delivery of cargo while adhering to all transportation regulations and company policies
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to maintain truck safety and compliance
- Accurately complete and maintain all required documentation, inspection reports, and delivery receipts
- Use an Electronic Logging Device to maintain hours of service
- Navigate challenging road conditions, including gravel roads, ice roads, and mountain passes
- Manage load securement and weight distribution to ensure safe transport
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and other drivers using various communication tools
- Perform basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting as needed
- Adapt to changing weather conditions and adjust driving techniques accordingly
- Maintain a flexible schedule to accommodate varying delivery demands and potential delays
- Assist with loading and unloading cargo using equipment such as forklifts when necessary
- Adhere to all safety protocols and participate in ongoing safety training
- Represent the company professionally when interacting with clients and the public
- Stay informed about road conditions, construction, and potential hazards along the route
- Maintain a clean and organized truck cabin and cargo area
This is a full-time position based out of Acheson, requiring flexibility in availability and the ability to be away from home for extended periods.
Qualifications- Own a newer Model Truck, please provide year & specs
- Class 1 License with a minimum of 2 years of experience
- LCV certified or eligible
- 5 years of mountain experience
- Off-road experience is a major asset
- Forklift experience
- Must be able to provide a criminal record check, driver's abstract, and 2 work-related references.
