Class 1 Driver​/Loader Operator

Big Lakes County is seeking an experienced Seasonal Full-Time Class 1 Driver to support Public Works operations. This combined role involves both hauling gravel to locations throughout the County and operating a front-end loader to load trucks when needed.

• Valid Alberta Class 1 Operator’s.
• Experience operating and maintaining equipment.
• Experience hauling gravel.
• Experience operating a loader an asset.
• Experience reading maps.

• Mechanically inclined, able to troubleshoot.
• Maintain and service equipment.
• Must be self-motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Good physical condition.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• The ability to deal with the public effectively and courteously is required.

• Use and operation of heavy equipment and attachments throughout the County.
• Physical job requirements:
  May require lifting and carrying of up to 23 kg, bending, twisting, kneeling, squatting, crawling.
• Dust and fumes.
• Exposure to outdoor conditions.
• Normal work week is 40 hours, but occasional overtime may be required. A full work week is not always guaranteed if weather conditions make it difficult or unsafe to work.

• All personnel working at Big Lakes County are governed by the County’s Health & Safety Policy.
• Ensures all operations are conducted in a safe manner and in accordance with County Policies and Occupational Health & Safety Regulations.
• Required to wear correct P.P.E as per safe job procedures.
• Must check in as per Working Alone legislation.
• Must follow all safe job procedures
