Red Deer Regional Health Centre offers an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse / Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RN/RPN) in a very busy Adult Psychiatry Unit. The RN/RPN is a front‑line nursing role providing clinical intervention and treatment to patients experiencing mental health crisis and works collaboratively with physicians, staff, management, and community partners across Red Deer and rural sites within the Central Zone.

As an RN/RPN you will:

• Provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, ensuring their safety and well‑being.
• Utilize nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, and teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families.
• Lead an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance.
• Deliver safe, quality, patient‑ and family‑centered care aligned with Alberta Health Services values.

Provisional permit holders will earn $39.58 – $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate will adjust to the applicable registered nurse rate per UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii).

• Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
• Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS‑HCP) certification.
• If not practised as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse within the past five (5) years, completion of the following free courses prior to employment:

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in Adult Psychiatry within the past 5 years.
• Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector search as required.

• Recent experience working as a Charge Nurse.
• Completion of Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention course.
