Make a significant impact on patient-focused health care as a Supervisor in Patient Food Service (PFS). PFS is a provincial program committed to providing nutritious, healthy, high quality meal service to patients, staff, visitors, and the community. This position works within a supervisory team to support patient food service at Red Deer Regional Hospital in Red Deer. The PFS Supervisor directs front‑line workers (Administrative Supports, Food Service Workers and Stores Attendants) and ensures patients receive the meals required to promote good health.
You will be integrated as part of a dynamic team that includes other PFS Supervisors, Managers, Dietitians and other health‑care professionals.

The Supervisor position is an introduction to the operations management stream and could lead to other opportunities within Food Services Management.
DescriptionReporting to the Manager, Patient Food Services, the Supervisor has responsibility for maintaining operations at the site level, aligning AHS, NFS and site priorities with the delivery of patient food services:
- Provision of frontline staff direction and supervision of patient food service operations
- Completion of human resources activities (including but not limited to the recruitment process, performance appraisals, investigations, performance management, and application of the collective agreement)
- Manage food, supply, and labor expenses to achieve financial targets
- Ensure safe work practice and conditions
- Participate in the development and implementation of menus customized to meet local customer profiles, cost factors, labor productivity targets and standards set by NFS
- Promote quality improvement and staff engagement in operational problem solving
- Serve as key contact to site administration and patient care for matters relating to Patient Food Services
- Ensure site compliance to guidelines, standards, and regulatory directives

- Post‑secondary degree, diploma or certificate in Nutrition and/or Food Service Management
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Food Services management role (a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered)
- Knowledge and operation of Microsoft Outlook, Excel & Word
