Your OpportunityRegistered Nurses (RNs) working within the Healthy Beginnings Team are responsible for the provision Public Health services, in clinic and outreach settings, including antenatal/prenatal care; routine postnatal care; lactation support and group facilitation; routine immunizations and maternal/child assessments within the standardized provincial Well Child Clinic program. Utilizing a patient and family centred approach, RNs in the Healthy Beginnings Team will complete assessments;
counselling; screening; follow up; referrals; client advocacy; fostering appropriate use of the health care system; facilitating cooperation and coordination amongst the many health and social service agencies; collection and recording of client based data, involvement in nursing or other health research, quality improvement and safety and risk management. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to be self-directed, exercise independent decision-making, nursing judgment, critical thinking, and conflict resolution skills.
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance.
You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of PCA.
PLEASE NOTE:
Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58/hour - $54.16/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with PCA/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 () and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification ((Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).)
AdditionalRequired Qualifications
At least 1 year of full-time experience working as a Registered Nurse in Public Health with providing provincially funded immunizations based on routine/non-routine schedules as outlined in the Immunization Provincial Standards Manual within the last 3 years. Comfortable to drive in all-weather conditions. Lift/carry/pull supplies up to a minimum of 30 lbs. Ability to raise arms to shoulder height, in a repetitive movement for immunization.
Ability to bend, twist, kneel and respond safely and quickly to a variety of emergency situations. Ability to walk long distances and climb stairs while carrying equipment. Independently perform the skills of a certified, BLS provider. Sit, stand for a minimum of 30 minutes. Work within outreach sites that have no consistent ergonomic setup. Effective and efficient time management. Communicate effectively with diverse clients from various cultures, ages and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Proficient computer and keyboarding skills. Demonstrate culturally competent care.
Experience working within Pediatrics, Neonatal, Labour and delivery, and Postnatal care populations will be considered. Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing preferred. Nursing students with a final focus in Public Health within the last 3 years will be considered. Current CNA Certification in Community Health Nursing. Computer Literacy in programs such as:
Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Teams, PowerPoint, Alberta Vaccine Inventory System (AVI), Meditech/Connect Care, and SharePoint.
