Side Hoe Excavator Operator – Water & Sewer Construction

WCL is looking for an experienced Side Hoe Excavator Operator to support underground water and sewer installations following earthworks. This role focuses on working alongside the mainline crew, assisting with service connections, trench support, and detailed excavation work.

• 3+ years experience operating excavators in underground water and sewer construction
• Experience pulling away from the mainline hoe, swinging in pipe and bringing aggregate and material into the ditch and support excavation alongside mainline work
• Ability to work accurately around existing utilities and live services
• Comfortable following direction from the Topman and Foreman
• Strong awareness of trench safety, shoring, and ground conditions
• Ability to work efficiently around pipe layers and labour crewsa
• Safety-focused with strong job site awareness
• Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented

• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
• WHMIS & CSTS 2020 (or willing to obtain)

• 7:00 AM – 6:30 PM Monday to Friday
• 8 hour Saturdays (some Saturdays planned off)
• Some rain days off
• Potential for backfill and prep work on some Sundays and long weekends
