The ideal candidate is reliable, provides courteous, respectful, and professional customer services; has the ability to analyze situations involving rules and regulations; demonstrates good judgment when making decisions; communicates effectively orally and in writing; interacts with individuals from various educational, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds; works cooperatively with the family, community partners, and other County agencies and as part of a team;
listens attentively and understands oral information provided; prioritizes, plans and organizes one s own work.
The primary function of a Community Services Family Partner is to meet the needs of the child and family in all aspects of their life, including: personal and community safety; family life; education; employment; recreation; emotional and physical health; spiritual and cultural needs; housing and issues related to the legal system. This work is primarily performed in the field and may also include working outside of normal business hours.
As a Community Services Family Partner, You Will Have The Opportunity To:
- Explore, identify, and work to (re) establish natural support systems as needed; identify and link families with community connections and resources. Collaborate and participate in team meetings to ensure the parent and family members have access, voice and choice within the process and to support the parent connection to the child.
- Coach families to make decisions and to use their voice to direct treatment.
- Model and instruct parents on effective coping techniques. Utilize conflict resolution skills.
- Maintain and manage schedules effectively in order to handle the needs of multiple families and attend numerous meetings.
- Empower and advocate for client family members by acting as the voice of the family when needed.
- Assist families with daily activities, errands and appointments and transport clients and families when necessary.
Controversial Issues: As a Community Services Family Partner, you may encounter customers who are emotionally charged, customers that have substance dependence, mental health issues, trauma or domestic violence history. You may be assisting customers whose values may conflict with your own values. A Community Services Family Partner must be able to accept customers differences and interact with them in a non-judgmental manner.

QualificationsAny combinations of training and experience which would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities are qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
- Equivalent to the completion of twelfth (12th) grade AND
- Equivalent to one (1) year providing social services, public assistance, counseling or case management.
OR
- Experience as a parent or child who has had involvement with Child Protective Services (CPS), Probation or Mental Health Services or a relative-caregiver who had involvement with the above agencies.
- Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
License & Special Requirements:
- Requires a valid California driver’s license.
The department is currently recruiting for one (1) vacancy.
In addition, Tehama County is establishing an eligibility list to fill future vacancies for a Community Services Family Partner, as well as subsequent vacancies which occur during the life of the eligibility list.
New employees should anticipate being hired at the beginning step of the salary range. Candidates who exceed entry level qualifications may be considered, with approval from the Board of Supervisors, for placement at other than A step.
