Seeking a dynamic and experienced Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to lead our Crisis Behavioral Health nursing department. This leadership role oversees daily operations, manages clinical and support staff, and ensures the delivery of high-quality, comprehensive care to acute, complex patients. The Manager will serve as a clinical expert, provide leadership to the specialty area, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

  • Previous leadership experience is preferred.
  • Certification: PMHNP certification is required.
  • Schedule:

    Full-Time, Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. No weekends.
Responsibilities
  • Workflow:
    Provides administrative support and direction in the day-to-day operation of the assigned unit. Develops short and long-term goals for the unit aligned with organizational goals. Manages time and resources effectively by delegating across multiple priorities. Develops, implements, and supports activities/projects that promote patient satisfaction within a patient-centered care framework to achieve best-practice targets. Provides timely notification of critical events according to regulatory and organizational policies.

    Ensures all team members are knowledgeable in emergency preparedness/disaster response policies and procedures. Develops unit-specific response plans and participates in preparedness drills as required, mobilizing resources as needed.
  • Budgetary Goals:
    Promotes cost-effective use of resources. Conducts financial analysis at the unit/department level considering case mix, acuity, workload, staffing, and costs. Reviews variance analyses and implements corrective action plans. Prepares and submits monthly variance and justification reports to Director/CNO.
  • Clinical Mentor:
    Maintains clinical expertise while promoting education and evidence-based practice. Plans and implements educational activities for patients, families, and team members; supports professional growth; recognizes leadership accomplishments.
  • Human Resources Management:
    Gathers information, counsels employees, initiates timely disciplinary actions with proper documentation.
  • Performance Improvement:
    Establishes high standards for quality and service; leads unit- or hospital-wide projects; collaborates with teams to implement PDCA/PI initiatives.
  • Effective Leadership:
    Fosters open communication, fair decision-making, and ethical conduct under stress; maintains composure and trustworthiness.
  • Quality Improvement:
    Manages multiple priorities and ensures nursing care standards meet regulatory requirements; participates in readiness activities and documentation.
  • Clinical Duties:
    Takes thorough patient histories, conducts physical examinations, orders/tests, develops problem lists, diagnoses, and treatment plans; communicates with collaborating physicians; ensures continuity of care.

    Writes orders, communicates with the multidisciplinary team, and coordinates with physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals.
  • Maintains professional accountability and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required Education & Experience
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse in a relevant specialty.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of leadership or administrative experience.
Required Licenses & Certifications
  • Current and valid NJ State Professional Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Current and valid NJ Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) license.
  • Board certification as an Adult Nurse Practitioner.
  • Active DEA and NJ CDS registrations for prescriptive authority.
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Required Skills
  • Strong proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
