SMM is seeking a Surgical Coordinator to join our team.
PayBase pay range
: $24.00/hr - $27.00/hr
This range is provided by The Plastic Surgery Center. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.
Key Responsibilities- Be the Anchor of the Surgical Journey
- Flexible & Mobile:
Willingness to travel between office locations and adapt to a flexible schedule based on physician s locations - Patient Engagement:
Meet with patients in person, over the phone, or via telehealth to guide them through their surgical process - Procedure Planning:
Clearly explain surgical procedures, insurance benefits, authorization requirements, and policy guidelines to patients - Surgical Scheduling:
Coordinate surgery dates based on physician availability and operating room schedules; communicate with hospitals and imaging departments to secure appointments and send necessary documentation - Pre/Post-Op Coordination:
Schedule all pre- and post-operative visits with physicians, PAs, or nurses to ensure continuity of care - Collaborative Case Management:
Coordinate co-surgical cases with referring physician offices and maintain open lines of communication - Patient Communication:
Respond promptly to patient calls and emails, providing timely updates and support - Financial Coordination:
Collect applicable fees prior to surgery and ensure patients are informed about their financial responsibilities - EMR Documentation:
Maintain accurate and detailed records of all patient interactions and updates in the electronic medical record system - Schedule Optimization:
Review and adjust physician schedules to maximize efficiency and patient access - Administrative Support:
Enter and update templates for office hours, on-call schedules, and meetings; schedule internal meetings as needed - Care Team Communication:
Send consultation and post-op notes to referring providers to ensure coordinated care - Insurance Management:
Initiate and follow up on insurance authorizations, verify eligibility, and communicate financial details to patients
