Position: Social Worker - Together for Families
Reading Children's Services is seeking a passionate and skilled Social Worker to join our Together for Families Team. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a supportive, forward-thinking service that places children, families, and practitioners at the heart of everything we do.

You will hold and manage a varied and dynamic caseload, supported by regular reflective supervision, strong management oversight, and a culture that values professional curiosity, learning, and well-being.

What You'll Be Doing

Undertaking child-centred, timely assessments using the Family Safeguarding practice model

Working with children and families across Children in Need, Child Protection, and care proceedings

Completing ongoing assessments that reflect changing circumstances, risk, and protective factors

Preparing high-quality reports to support decision-making and quality assurance

Chairing Child in Need and Core Group meetings

Working directly with children, young people, and families to identify strengths, understand risk, and develop effective, evidence-based intervention plans

Collaborating closely with partner agencies to ensure families receive the right help at the right time

Working alongside legal colleagues, attending PLO meetings, and confidently giving evidence in court

Making sound, evidence-based decisions that promote children's safety, well being, and long-term outcomes
