A Specialist School in Reading is seeking a dedicated Graduate to join their team as a Mental Health & Behaviour Support Assistant. The school caters for children aged 4-16 who face social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges, including attachment disorders, ADHD, anxiety, trauma, and low self-esteem. Many of the pupils have experienced adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), and therefore struggle in a mainstream environment.
Responsibilities- Encourage academic progress and provide emotional support.
- Manage and respond to challenging behaviours caused by SEMH needs.
- Identify individual needs and triggers, and help guide students to overcome obstacles.
- Promote positive decision‑making, reducing anti‑social behaviours, and increase academic performance through trauma‑informed practices.
