Overview

We are recruiting for an Electrical Technician to join our waste team in the Wargrave area. You will work in a multi-disciplinary team and be responsible for scheduled, unscheduled and emergency maintenance on electrical equipment in compliance with company procedures to minimise plant breakdowns. This is an opportunity to help Thames Water reduce environmental impact.

Responsibilities
  • Investigate plant failures and carry out repairs quickly and efficiently to avoid interruptions to the process. This may involve diagnosing complex faults and repairing during incidents.
  • Provide technical advice, reference up-to-date knowledge, and train or support technical trainees if required.
  • Work on equipment such as motors, gearboxes, screw/chain conveyors & centrifuges, pumps and associated control gear, 3‑phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems (e.g., VSD), automatic valves, flow, level and pressure measurement, programmable logic controllers, variable speed drives and controls, chemical handling and dosing equipment.
  • Operate as a time-served apprentice with significant experience in electrical systems or hold NVQ or C&G Level 3 in electrical engineering.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety requirements relevant to the industry and work with minimum supervision, exercising initiative to design and uphold standards.
  • Collaborate with internal and external staff and contractors, demonstrating good communication and teamwork.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Time-served apprenticeship or NVQ/C&G Level 3 in electrical engineering.
  • 18th Edition wiring regulations.
  • Knowledge and awareness of Health and Safety issues relevant to the industry.
  • A problem solver who can identify issues and implement solutions or escalate as required.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work under own initiative.
  • Full UK driving licence.
Working Pattern and Benefits

Working pattern: 38 hours, Monday to Friday, 7:30 am – 3:36 pm. After essential company training, you will be included on standby rota with overtime opportunities, potentially increasing earnings. All PPE, tools, van and fuel card are provided.

  • Salary:
    Up to £42,000 per annum depending on skills and experience.
  • Standby rota payments and overtime opportunities can add up to £8,000–£10,000 per annum after training.
  • Performance-related pay plan linked to company performance.
  • Annual leave: 24 days, rising to 28 with length of service plus bank holidays.
