An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Approved Electrician to join a specialist engineering contractor delivering electrical installation and commissioning projects within the utilities and infrastructure sectors.
This Approved Electrician role offers the opportunity to work across a range of electrical installation, testing and commissioning activities, primarily within water utilities and other process-driven environments. The Approved Electrician will support multiple projects, ensuring electrical systems are installed safely, efficiently and in line with current regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out electrical installation work in accordance with BS7671 wiring regulations
- Install, service and repair low voltage electrical control systems
- Install and commission instrumentation systems, including pressure, level, temperature and flow devices
- Read and interpret schematic drawings, electrical drawings and technical specifications
- Diagnose electrical faults and carry out structured troubleshooting
- Complete initial verification and periodic inspection and testing
- Ensure electrical installations remain compliant with certification bodies such as NICEIC or ECA
- Produce clear technical reports and documentation
- Participate in a 24/7 call-out rota supporting reactive breakdown work
- Follow company health and safety procedures and quality management systems
- Previous experience working as an Approved Electrician
- Experience with in water utilities, utilities infrastructure, or other process-driven industrial environments
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation
- 18th Edition (BS7671)
- City & Guilds 2391 Inspection and Testing
- ECS Gold Card
- Strong ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Basic IT skills and ability to produce digital reports
- Ability to work independently and as part of a project team
- Full UK driving licence
- Water or wastewater sector experience
- IPAF or PASMA
- SSSTS
- Comp Ex
- Salary up to £45,000
