As an AMC Supervisor, you will work within our Alarm Monitoring Centre (AMC) which continuously monitors the security of our estate. The AMC team is part of the Protective Security Team and supports the performance of physical security across Thames Water, ensuring our critical assets are secure.

The AMC is connected to remote sites through multi‑face communications such as Video Surveillance Systems (VSS), Intruder Detection Systems (IDS), Electronic Access Control (EAC) and ADSL line, among others.

What you will be doing as an AMC Supervisor
  • Act as the escalation point to assess any alarms that may require incident response, decide the correct response and ensure clear communication throughout the incident process.
  • Ensure your team monitors alarms against set procedures and documentation, ensuring that site systems are operating correctly, stepping into cover as required.
  • Provide security incident management to our operational sites (e.g. in case of a security system outage, offering sound advice for escalated issues).
  • Activate disaster recovery plans for the AMC as required.
  • Manage the AMC working environment, oversee the operator team and ensure a consistent approach.
  • Feed into system health checks, using information sourced from your team and involved with data/subject access requests.
  • Contribute and deliver continuous improvement activities, identifying operational and process improvement opportunities.

Location – Reading, Berkshire

Working Hours – 38.5 Hours per week, 4‑on‑4‑off, 12‑hour shifts. Day and Night roles available.

What you should bring to the role
  • Operational experience gained in a similar AMC, ARC or SOC role.
  • Knowledge and experience of using security systems (CCTV, alarms, access control, etc.) to monitor and respond to alarms.
  • Demonstrated understanding and deployment of monitoring, response, emergency and escalation procedures.
  • A strong leader with negotiation and people‑influencing skills, able to communicate at all levels and build strong relationships.
  • Experience of leading a shift‑based team across 24 hrs, with strong line management skills.
