The Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a Qualified Trauma Nurse Practitioner to join the Trauma Nurse Practitioner team as a Trauma Nurse Coordinator. The post holder will manage trauma lists and provide ongoing pathway care for all trauma patients admitted to the Royal Berkshire Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
Responsibilities- Organise the trauma lists for both in‑patient and ambulatory patients.
- Attend the Post‑Take Ward Round.
- Attend MDTs as required for specialist trauma.
- Provide clinical expertise and support to trauma patients and nursing staff.
- Prepare for, attend, and facilitate daily trauma meetings and assist in the preparation of the trauma list, both pre‑planned and urgent.
- Facilitate daily post‑take ward rounds, supporting documentation and clinical/operational actions and interventions.
- Ensure all trauma patients are fully prepared for surgery, including completion of pre‑op investigations.
- Work with the Core Administration Team to organise appointments.
- Support patients and ward staff; assist patients in complying with and adhering to prescribed treatments.
- Ensure full and accurate documentation in patient notes.
- Utilise and demonstrate sensitive communication styles, ensuring patients are fully informed and consent to treatment.
- Communicate effectively with patients and carers, adapting communication methods for varying levels of understanding, cultural background, and preferred ways of communicating.
- Act as a focal point for communication and information sharing across multidisciplinary groups.
- Respond to patient feedback, including PALS and complaints.
- Registered Nurse with significant experience in Trauma & Orthopaedics.
- Knowledge and skills in traction, spinal management and digital removal of faeces.
- Evidence of change or policy management.
- Strong interpersonal skills – communication, teamwork.
- Problem‑solving skills.
- Knowledge of guidelines, protocols and policies, both local and national, relating to Trauma and Orthopaedics.
- Good organisational skills and appropriate UK professional registration.

- Annual leave – 27 days for new starters, plus bank holidays; increasing to 29 days after 5 years and 33 days after 10 years NHS service. (Pro‑rata for part‑time staff).
