Do you enjoy being out and about, working with machinery, and helping your community stay clean and safe? If so, this could be the role for you!

We seek the best talent from the widest pool of people as diversity and inclusion is the key to our success. Reading Borough Council is a Disability Confident Employer and is committed to recruitment and continued employment of people with disabilities.

About the role

A C1 or C1E UK driving licence is essential and forms part of the shortlisting criteria; therefore you must state you have this on your CV or application form, otherwise you will not be shortlisted.

Our team keeps the town's pavements, roads and other public areas clean and safe, and we're looking for new team members to join us! This job is mainly driving our cleansing machines, but you will also be carrying out a range of other cleansing duties, so this would suit someone who enjoys varied outdoor work. Checking and maintaining your equipment and vehicle in line with daily checklists.

Responsibilities
  • Drive compact street sweepers and other cleansing machines.
  • Carry out a range of other cleansing duties and outdoor manual work.
  • Check and maintain equipment and vehicle according to daily checklists.
Qualifications
  • Full UK driving licence (C1 / C1E).
  • Understanding of general vehicle maintenance.
  • Experience of outdoor manual working.
  • Comfortable maintaining mechanical equipment.

You'll be part of a team that relies on each individual to play their part to the best of their ability. As well as the colleagues that you work closely with every day, you'll also be part of Team Reading, playing your personal part in making Reading a successful and vibrant place.
