Job Description & How to Apply Below

Shape the asset strategy. Balance risk, cost, and performance. Build the future of infrastructure management.

As Infrastructure Lifecycle Senior Manager
, you will define how infrastructure risk is understood, how asset data informs and feeds into our infrastructure strategy, and influence how operational and capital interventions are orchestrated to deliver the best whole-life outcomes for customers and shareholders, as part of MBNL’s transformation into a world-class infrastructure management organisation.

Why this role matters

This role defines how MBNL understands infrastructure risk, performance, and investment trade-offs. It enables joined-up, evidence-based decisions that protect customers, support shareholders, and safeguard long-term value. Get this right, and MBNL moves from reactive infrastructure management to predictive, risk-based, and value-driven stewardship of its estate.
This is a hybrid role with a minimum of 2 days per week in our Central Reading office.

What you’ll be here to do

You’ll lead the thinking, the frameworks, and the capability that govern how infrastructure decisions are made. You’ll

  • Define and continuously improve the MBNL Infrastructure Risk Framework, aligned to Board-level risk appetite.
  • Ensure infrastructure risks are visible, understood, and actively managed across the organisation.
Asset Analysis & Insight
  • Lead the production of condition, performance, and design-life analysis to inform maintenance, upgrade, replacement, and decommissioning strategies.
  • Deliver improvements to site and asset data quality, including impact assessments when data changes.
  • Define, contract, and manage external analysis suppliers, ensuring delivery against SLAs and KPIs.
Orchestration & Planning
  • Provide insight that shapes how inspection, maintenance, remediation, and capital programmes are scoped and prioritised.
  • Enable Strategy & Investment and Integrated Planning teams to adjust plans and investment decisions based on real infrastructure health.
  • Own the inputs to the orchestration of Opex and Capex across Operational Services and customer deployment programmes.
  • Own and govern the MBNL site infrastructure portfolio, ensuring alignment with customers and internal teams.
  • Define and continuously improve the Infrastructure Performance Framework, using metrics such as MTBF, MTTR, and AFR.
  • Create strategic insight into asset health at portfolio level, not just site-by-site.
Capability & Transformation
  • Build and embed Infrastructure Management capability aligned to ISO 55001 across people, process, data, and systems.
  • Implement and evolve the Asset Strategy and Management System that underpins long-term decision making.
  • Actively drive the cultural shift toward evidence-led, risk-based infrastructure management.
Stakeholders & Third-Party Engagement
  • Own senior relationships with customers and shareholders, ensuring alignment to infrastructure strategy and rationale.
  • Assess and process third-party Site Share requests, balancing feasibility, risk, and commercial impact.
  • Be a visible advocate for Infrastructure Management across MBNL.
  • Be a role model for the MBNL Behaviour Framework.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the Infrastructure Lifecycle Management team.
  • Drive engagement, performance, and wellbeing while embedding change.

  • Experience establishing infrastructure data and analytics capabilities.
  • Track record of bringing external best practice into organisations and using it to drive improvement.
If you also have the following, we’re especially interested in talking to you
