Data Centre Technician – Oracle
Oracle is looking for a Data Centre Technician to join an onsite team providing 24x7 support with a mixture of onsite rota and on‑call coverage. The role requires a blend of technical expertise, project involvement and strong problem‑solving skills to support our large‑scale data centres.
Responsibilities- Plan and coordinate new rack deliveries with third‑party teams.
- Install and configure server racks, switches and other hardware, ensuring timely handover under strict SLA.
- Support the design and commissioning of new white spaces.
- Install, maintain and troubleshoot long‑line cabling (up to 50 metres), perform cable testing and follow OCI standards.
- Conduct break‑fix activities on server hardware – CPU, system boards, HDDs – and perform routine hardware and software checks.
- Monitor the ticketing system, prioritise and resolve tickets in accordance with SLA and business objectives.
- Assist with the planning and delivery of ad‑hoc projects and coordinate with inventory teams to secure necessary materials.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware and network issues, and perform preventative maintenance as required.
- Work closely with network engineers, system administrators and other teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- Maintain 16x7 onsite coverage and provide on‑call support for high‑severity incidents outside on‑site hours.
- Travel as necessary to support multiple data centre sites.
- Previous experience in large‑scale data centres.
- Long‑line cabling experience (up to 50 metres) and ability to manage clean, organized cable runs.
- Strong technical knowledge of servers, switches, hardware and networking.
- Experience with break‑fix activities, troubleshooting and preventative maintenance.
- Ability to prioritise tickets and work within SLA thresholds.
- Career Level – IC3.
- UK Passport required for access to certain areas.
