We have a great new role for a Cloud Platform Engineer / Linux Administrator to join our Cloud Platforms team in Core Engineering
.

The Cloud Platform Engineer will be responsible for VMO2’s on‑premise Cloud Infrastructure with responsibility for Builds, Upgrades, Configuration, Automation, Maintenance and Continuous Improvement.

We require a technically skilled candidate with expertise in Linux Administration
, coupled with Red Hat solutions including Open Stack Cloud and/or Open Shift
.

VMO2's IT Private Cloud is the platform on which most critical business applications reside and must deliver 99.999% availability. The Cloud Platform Build Engineer is accountable for ensuring that the cloud platforms meet the availability and performance targets set out to deliver business‑critical services.

This role is accountable for putting the customer at the forefront of everything that they do, ensuring any decision made is in the best interest of the customer experience.

This role works alongside other engineering functions and as a result the role holder will need to have a broad and extensive understanding, knowledge and experience managing cloud environments across the core technologies.

• As a leading technical resource for the Cloud Platform, make technical decisions that define the parameters for delivering optimum performance and customer experience.
• Accountable for the performance of the cloud environment throughout its lifecycle, ensuring the latest software, security patches and system upgrades are applied within defined SLA’s.
• Constantly improve speed to market by ensuring continuous deployment through automation targeting 100% of day‑to‑day tasks being automated.

• Excellent Linux administration experience, particularly in Red Hat
• Experience with high availability applications, monitoring and logging tools
• Strong knowledge of virtualization technologies
• Networking experience

• Red Hat certification, RHCSA/RHCE/RHCVA
• Experience in developing orchestration tools, automation tools using Ansible
• Experience of Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment using Agile methodologies
• Experience building, configuring and operating a Red Hat Open Stack cloud
• Experience with container‑based technologies such as Openshift, Docker and Kubernetes
