Responsibilities

We're looking for a Band 6 Senior Medicines Management and Medicines Value Pharmacy Technician to support our medicines value programme, focusing on high‑cost drugs, biosimilars, and cost‑effective prescribing. This is a new post that will help deliver value for money in medicines prescribing. In this role, you will:

  • Provide technical expertise to medicines optimisation and switch projects.
  • Monitor adherence to pathways, protocols, and formulary choices.
  • Maintain accurate switch tracking systems and ensure robust data reporting.
  • Act as the first point of contact for the biosimilar patient helpline.
  • Work with prescribers and pharmacy teams to resolve medicines supply or usage issues.
  • Contribute to audits, assurance returns, and governance reports.
  • Support the development of operational policies to improve efficiency and safety.

You will play a key role in delivering high‑quality, patient‑centred medicines management services across the Trust. Working closely with senior pharmacists and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will:

  • Work collaboratively with pharmacists and the wider medicines optimisation team to deliver safe, effective, and value‑based use of medicines across the Trust.
  • Coordinate governance and documentation processes for biosimilar switches and other medicines optimisation initiatives.
  • Provide day‑to‑day operational leadership for the medicines value service, including managing patient support helplines, data systems, and audit activities.
  • Contribute to service development by identifying opportunities for efficiency, cost‑effectiveness, and quality improvement in medicines use.
  • Line‑manage and develop a Band 5 Pharmacy Technician, ensuring high professional standards and personal growth.
Qualifications

You’ll need to be a GPhC‑registered Pharmacy Technician with strong organisational, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
