Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Primary Care Nurse to join our Primary Care team at HMP Wealstun, a Category C prison located near Wetherby, Yorkshire. This male prison focuses on training and education and includes a full pharmacy team of around 15 staff.
Hours & Working Pattern37.5 hours per week:
Monday to Sunday. Expect to work weekends every other week, 07:00 – 19:30pm. No nights. Three shifts per week plus an extra shift every 8 weeks.
Full‑time position. Annual salary up to £37,796 per annum pro rata, depending on experience.

- Work within a multi‑disciplinary team to deliver a nurse‑led service and prevent hospital admissions
- Undertake medication rounds, dispense controlled medication, attend emergency response situations, assess patients, and undertake reception screening
- Use your skills and knowledge to deliver nurse‑led clinics to your patient group while being supported by a multi‑disciplinary team
- Provide outstanding evidence‑based care to our patients, seeking out, listening to and acting on their feedback, so care is personalised and informed by what matters to them
- Deliver non‑judgemental care that makes a real difference
- Inspire excellence by forging strong links with partners and stakeholders
- Promote best practice, clinical supervision, evidence‑based care and continuous quality improvement, embedding a culture of shared learning
- Share knowledge, skills and expertise to ensure safe care, building strong multi‑disciplinary teams
- Registered Nurse Adult – NMC
- Evidence of Continued Professional Development
- Understanding of the complexities of multi‑disciplinary and multi‑agency working
- A non‑judgemental and compassionate approach
- Excellent communication skills
Although not essential, ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
