Experienced Rotational Occupational Therapist
We are an aspirational Therapy team whose mission is to deliver a high‑quality, modern, patient‑centred service at the Royal Berkshire Hospital. We work closely with our Physiotherapy colleagues, providing a maximum opportunity for development and learning. Active involvement in service development and leadership at Band 6 level is encouraged, and there are many opportunities for personal and professional development.
Rotations- Orthopaedics (elective and trauma) and Surgery (planned and emergency)
- Paediatrics
- Medicine (Cardiac, Renal, Respiratory, Rheumatology, Endocrinology, Gastro, Haematology and Oncology)
- Elderly Care (including Hip Fragility Unit)
- Front Door Services (Emergency Department, Acute Medical Unit, Short Stay Unit)
- Acute Stroke Unit
- Early Supported Discharge (ESD) Service
- Provide expert occupational therapy within the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust Hospital (RBFT).
- Participate in operational management and clinical leadership alongside the Band 7 Team Lead and/or Advanced Specialist OT.
- Use specialist OT knowledge and clinical reasoning skills to support the team and manage your own caseload of complex patients autonomously.
- Ensuring a high‑quality, efficient OT service in the designated area.
- Contribute to planning and policy development within the Therapy Department.
- Deputise for the Band 7 Team Lead or Advanced Specialist when required.
- Degree or other recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy
- Post‑graduate specialist experience demonstrated by ongoing CPD, evidence‑based project work, and post‑graduate teaching
- HPC registered
- Specialist post‑graduate experience
- Broad understanding of Elderly Care, Medical, Neurological, Musculoskeletal, orthopaedic or surgical conditions, and post‑graduate training in condition management
- Experience of teaching and presenting to other staff
- Experience of supervising and developing other staff and students
- BSc OT
- Specialist knowledge in a related area
- Member of a related Clinical Interest group
- Research or audit experience
- Training and presentation skills
- Car driver with UK driving licence, able to drive a pool car for access visits
