Financial Director

A private equity-backed UK services business is seeking a commercially minded Finance Director to partner closely with the CEO and leadership team during a key phase of performance improvement and strategic development.

The business operates nationally as part of an international group. While well-established, the focus is now on strengthening commercial discipline, enhancing financial visibility and building scalable infrastructure to support sustainable growth.

This is a hands‑on leadership role requiring both strategic capability and operational engagement. The successful candidate will combine commercial acumen with strong financial control and delivery.

• Drive financial performance through disciplined cost management and cash optimization.
• Enhance management reporting, KPI frameworks and forecasting processes to enable data‑led decision making.
• Act as a commercial business partner to the MD and senior leadership team
• Lead and develop a small finance function across reporting, control and transactional activities
• Support organic growth initiatives including contract evaluation and new site or service development
• Provide financial input on potential acquisition activity where required
• Improve systems, processes and reporting capability to ensure scalability
• Ensure appropriate governance, controls and compliance within a PE‑backed framework
• Own statutory reporting and regular performance reporting to Group

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
• Experience with in a private equity‑backed or performance‑focused environment
• Background in multi‑site, operationally complex or service‑led businesses preferred
• Strong commercial business partnering capability at executive level
• Experience improving reporting, forecasting and control environments
• Exposure to M&A and/or integration activity advantageous
• Systems and reporting transformation experience desirable
