Inside IR35 | SC Cleared | Defence | Contract Role Overview
We are hiring multiple Product Delivery Managers to support a major Digital Engineering transformation programme within a defence environment.
These roles sit within a Digital Engineering product organisation
, where each Product Delivery Manager owns the delivery of a specific engineering capability that forms part of a wider Digital Thread
.
This is not a generic delivery or PMO role
.
You will be accountable for delivering engineering tooling, integration, governance, and adoption in a highly regulated, safety-critical context.
Capability AreasWe are recruiting Product Delivery Managers with strong experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Requirements Engineering
- (DOORS NG, requirements lifecycle, configuration & change control, traceability, migration from legacy RM tools)
- System of Systems / Architecture
- (UAF / DoDAF, mission threads, capability and operational modelling, interface governance)
- Software Factory / Digital Software Delivery
- (CI/CD, Dev Sec Ops tool chains, software lifecycle environments, evidence generation)
- Safety Engineering (Digital Safety)
- (Hazard analysis, safety cases, model-based safety, certification evidence)
- Product Security / Cyber Engineering
- (Threat & risk modelling, SBOM, vulnerability management, security assurance)
- Processes & Integration
- (Engineering governance, standards, tool interoperability, digital thread integration)
Each role has a clearly defined scope — you are not expected to cover all areas
.
- Own the delivery and continuous improvement of a Digital Engineering capability as a product
- Define and implement reference architectures, tool chains, and technical baselines
- Manage roadmaps, backlogs, dependencies, and delivery risks
- Enable end-to-end traceability across the Digital Thread
- Coordinate delivery across engineering teams, suppliers, and partners
- Drive adoption of model-centric, tool-based ways of working
- Ensure delivery meets regulatory, safety, security, and certification expectations
- Proven experience delivering engineering or digital capabilities in complex environments
- Background in Aerospace, Defence, or other safety-critical regulated industries
- Strong understanding of engineering life cycles, tooling, and data (not just delivery governance)
- Experience working with multiple stakeholders and suppliers
- Active SC clearance or clear eligibility
- Contract role – Inside IR35
- Reading-based with hybrid working
- Long-term programme within a major defence organisation
