About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to join our team at Thames Water to help develop and modernise our Water and Wastewater Treatment Works.

What you’ll be doing
  • Providing commercial advice on Major Capital Projects across our operational sites in London and the Thames Valley.
  • Managing projects from inception to completion.
  • Attending sites to meet contractors and monitor progress.
  • Carrying out tendering analysis and evaluations.
  • Assessing variations and negotiating.
  • Final accounting of projects.
  • Supporting the dispute resolution process and providing advice on contractual claims.
  • Managing the assessment and certification of monthly Applications for Payments (AFP).
Location and hours

This is a hybrid role with a flexible base across our Thames Valley sites. 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Remuneration

£43,005 to £58,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Essential criteria
  • BSc, HND or equivalent in Quantity Surveying or a construction‑related subject.
  • Experience managing operational contracts (large‑scale or a portfolio).
  • Strong technical understanding of commercial and contract management.
  • Negotiation and dispute resolution experience.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Full, valid UK driving licence and own transport.
  • Strong MS Office skills, organised and deadline‑oriented.
Additional skills and experience that would be great to have
  • Previous water or utilities experience.
  • Ideally Chartered RICS – support is available to achieve this.
