Commercial / Contract Manager – Defence (NEC/JCT)
Join Turner & Townsend as a Commercial / Contract Manager in the UK Defence Sector. You will support our clients with specialist NEC and JCT contract frameworks, manage contracts through the full cycle, and contribute to high‑profile, technically demanding projects across the UK.
Job Objectives- Provide specialist NEC3/NEC4 and/or JCT contract advice and guidance to public and private sector Defence clients.
- Manage NEC and JCT contracts, conduct background research, data collection, and benchmarking.
- Develop and implement effective NEC contract management processes and systems throughout the project.
- Monitor, document, and report on contract progress and performance indicators specific to NEC/JCT frameworks.
- Conduct change control management in line with NEC/JCT requirements, including tracking changes, administering early warning provisions, and negotiating contractual change.
- Prepare written communication materials and formal reports with a focus on NEC/JCT contract administration.
- Liaise with a diverse range of stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and designers within the NEC/JCT contract structure.
We are looking for experienced, passionate individuals who have a positive outlook, a desire for career development, and a solid technical foundation. Candidates should have extensive commercial and contract management experience in the Defence sector (or a comparable regulated sector) and thrive in a collaborative, high‑functioning team.
Qualifications- Proven track record in procurement within defence, construction, or infrastructure industries.
- Extensive experience in Procurement, Contract Management, and/or Contract Placement (sourcing) across sole‑source and competitive markets.
- In‑depth knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 and/or JCT contract frameworks.
- Background in UK Government procurement processes such as QDC, DSPCR, and PCR.
- Degree (or equivalent professional qualification) in Commercial Management, Business, Law, Project Management, or a related discipline.
- Formal professional qualification such as CIPS, or actively working toward it.
- Must obtain and maintain the required security clearance for the role.
