A progressive and supportive specialist school in Reading is seeking a dedicated Mental Health Teaching Assistant to join their pastoral and academic support team. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals looking to gain practical experience in mental health, psychology, youth work, or counselling.

The Role

As a Mental Health Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support students on a 1:1 and small group basis
  • Assist with emotional regulation and coping strategies
  • Help manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour
  • Encourage positive social interaction and resilience
  • Support students in accessing learning within the classroom
  • Work closely with safeguarding leads, SENCOs, and external mental health professionals

This Mental Health Teaching Assistant role requires empathy, patience, and strong communication skills. You will be instrumental in building trust with students and acting as a consistent, supportive adult role model.
