Job overview:
We are recruiting for a full-time Specialty Registrar Doctor in Gastroenterology at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust. The successful applicant will support the current delivery of Gastroenterology outpatient services. Endoscopy skills are desirable; training can be offered to suitable candidates. The appointee will join the existing team to provide specialist care and raise departmental profile through teaching and education.

The successful applicant will support the current delivery of Gastroenterology outpatient, inpatient and endoscopy services. Gastroenterology outpatient skills are essential; most sub-speciality interests can be accommodated. Endoscopy skills would be desirable, with training available for suitable candidates. General medical and in-patient gastroenterology skills are required, and the appointee will contribute to the on call medical rota. The aim is for the department to become a leader in Gastroenterology and Endoscopy;
the appointee must have procedural and leadership skills, plus teamwork, drive and ambition.

DetailedJob Description And Main Responsibilities
Immediate responsibilities:
The post holder will share clinical duties within the Gastroenterology department with the current medical and nursing team. An office base with administrative support will be provided.
Clinical objectives:
To provide high quality clinical care in gastroenterology clinics both independently and under supervision; to provide high quality endoscopy skills (training available for suitable candidates); to provide high quality clinical care to gastroenterology and general medical inpatients at registrar level, supporting junior medical colleagues and reporting to the consultant of the week.
Other responsibilities:
To participate in the daily running and development of the service; to facilitate teaching and training within the department; to participate in clinical governance, quality improvement and other business in the Gastroenterology and Endoscopy department.
