About the Practice
Our client is a well-established AJ100 architecture practice operating as part of a leading multidisciplinary built environment consultancy. With a heritage spanning over 75 years and a team exceeding 1,000 professionals across multiple UK offices, they've built an enviable reputation for design excellence and technical delivery.
Their residential portfolio is diverse and progressive, encompassing master planning, regeneration schemes, mixed-use developments, urban design, tall buildings, retrofit projects, Passivhaus design, low carbon housing, and social housing across various scales. Working nationally and with select international clients, they're recognised for their collaborative approach, integrated design methodology, and commitment to creating sustainable, high-quality places where people live and thrive.
The Opportunity
Due to sustained growth and an expanding project pipeline, they're seeking an experienced Senior Architect with a strong technical bias to join their Reading-based team. This is a hands-on role focused on the later stages of project delivery. You'll be leading projects from detailed design through to completion, ensuring design intent is realised on site with technical rigour and buildable solutions.
What You'll Be Doing
Leading residential projects through RIBA Stages 2-6, with particular focus on Stages 3/4 onwards
Producing detailed technical drawings, specifications, and comprehensive tender packages
Coordinating closely with structural engineers, M&E consultants, and contractors to resolve technical challenges
Managing site meetings, responding to RFIs, and providing contractor support throughout construction
Ensuring compliance with UK Building Regulations, planning conditions, and quality standards
Mentoring and developing junior architects within the team
Building strong client relationships and identifying opportunities for further collaboration
Applying practical, methodical problem-solving skills while delivering to budget and programme
About You
ARB-registered Architect with solid post-Part III experience
Demonstrable experience delivering projects through technical design and construction stages
Proficient in Revit with experience working in BIM Level 2 environments
Strong knowledge of UK Building Regulations, construction detailing, and buildability
Excellent communication skills with the ability to coordinate effectively across project teams
A proactive, diligent approach with strong organisational capabilities
Ambition to develop your technical expertise within a supportive, growing practice
