About the team:
You will be working at Reading Station, within the Excess fares office. This is a small team who work as part of the sales office team. It is important you are able to work well within a small team as well as the ability to work independently. The Excess office provides customers who have not purchased a ticket before travelling to pay for their travel.
They may also be requirements to work in the Main Ticket office.
As a customer sales advisor you will confidently and impartially sell the full range of tickets and services, including processing high volumes of sales, whilst exceeding our customers expectations.
Your main responsibilities will be:- Providing excellent customer service to our travelling passengers.
- Being dedicated to our customer needs
- Accurately and impartially selling the full range of products and services to our customers in a friendly, professional and efficient manner.
- Accurately completing all accountancy and other associated documentation.
- Acting in the capacity of unpaid fares office, providing passengers with the opportunity to purchase their ticket for the journey they have made.
- Able to remain calm under pressure
- A self starter with a can do attitude
- Confident when decision making
- Able to work alone and make decisions independently
- Previous experience of working within a customer facing role
- The ability to work as part of a team or independently
- Evidence of numerical ability
- Attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Previous cash handling experience would be beneficial although not essential.
Reading is a transport hub with many local bus routes and train services operating. Facilities at the station include a number of retail outlets as well as mess facilities. There may be occasional travel to attend courses but the role is predominately based at Reading.
Working Pattern:The working pattern is 2 working days Monday to Friday and working 2 Saturday in 4 weeks. The shift consist of earlies and lates including weekends and Bank Holiday working. The earliest start is 0600 and latest finish is 2200.
Additional Information:This is a permanent role working 18 hours per week.
