About the Role

An established and growing construction contractor is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join its UK delivery team, based in the Reading area. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in the successful delivery of technically challenging, high-value infrastructure projects, within a well-respected and expanding business.

Working closely with a Contracts Manager and wider project team, you will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of projects, from early design coordination through to completion, handover, and close-out.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead one or more project teams to ensure works are delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and in accordance with company procedures and current Health & Safety legislation.

* Take ownership of day-to-day project delivery, driving performance across quality, cost, and programme.

* Support commercial teams in the management and control of project costs, variations, and forecasting, providing accurate reports to senior management.

* Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, and key stakeholders.

* Manage subcontractor procurement, performance, and coordination, ensuring works meet required quality standards and programme milestones.

* Proactively identify project risks and opportunities, implementing effective mitigation strategies.

* Coordinate with design teams to ensure timely issue and implementation of design information.

* Oversee planning and sequencing of works, ensuring efficient coordination of site activities.

* Maintain clear communication with senior management, site teams, and external parties throughout the project lifecycle.

Skills & Experience Required

* Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.

* Strong background in civil engineering and infrastructure projects.

* Significant experience working in a Project Manager role for a recognised main contractor.

* Proven experience delivering complex civils works, including earthworks, reinforced concrete, drainage, utilities, and associated infrastructure.

* Strong knowledge of Health & Safety, Quality, and Environmental standards.

* Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

* Highly organised with strong planning, problem-solving, and time-management abilities.

* IT literate, with experience using MS Office and project planning software (e.g. MS Project or similar).

* Ability to manage multiple work streams and interfaces within live project environments.
