Location: Hybrid - AWE site/project
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: 12-month contract
Rate: 31 per hour (Umbrella PAYE) - Inside IR35
Clearance: SC clearance required
We are looking for an experienced Senior / Lead Document Controller to join a long-term project at AWE. This is a hybrid role suited to a confident document control professional who can independently own and manage the document control process with minimal support from the engineering team.
Key Responsibilities- Act as the lead document controller, managing the full document control process independently
- Track all project deliverables using Microsoft Excel, ensuring accurate updates as documents move through each process stage
- Manage the distribution of documents for review and information to stakeholders
- Maintain and update Excel-based review matrices, actively chasing reviewers to ensure timely feedback
- Transfer documents and DCFs between Meridian and Share Point as required
- Update the review matrix monthly in line with programme and deliverables plans
- Provide weekly metrics and reporting, including:
- Review turnaround times
- Number of review cycles per document
- Proactively identify and propose improvements to existing document control practices
- Ensure ongoing alignment of tracking documentation with delivery partner trackers
- Proven experience as a senior / lead document controller, working autonomously
- Must hold a live security clearance - SC or DV
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills (trackers, matrices, reporting)
- Hands-on experience with Meridian and Share Point
- Confident communicator with the ability to chase stakeholders and manage deadlines
- Strong organisational and process-management skills
- Understanding of AWE deliverables review stages (e.g. S2, S3, S3R), though this is not essential
- Hybrid working model
- Expenses available for candidates living more than 50 miles away who are required to travel and stay overnight
- 12-month contract, offering long-term stability
