Multiple openings are available for Autism Support Interventionists in Carbon and Lehigh County, PA, to support students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in school settings. These contract positions offer the opportunity to work closely with educators and therapists to positively impact students' academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development.

  • Carbon and Lehigh County, Pennsylvania
  • Potential worksites include specialized autism programs and elementary schools focused on behavioral support.
Position Overview:

Autism Support Interventionists provide hands-on assistance to students with ASD through one-on-one or small group support. The role emphasizes behavior intervention plan implementation and data collection to monitor student progress. Collaboration with special education teams ensures consistent and effective support tailored to each student's needs.

Responsibilities:
  • Deliver direct support following behavior intervention plans created with supervision.
  • Assist students during classroom routines, transitions, and sensory activities.
  • Collect and document data related to behavior and individualized education program (IEP) goals.
  • Apply evidence-based techniques such as Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), visual schedules, and social stories.
  • Maintain safe and structured environments while supporting personal care needs as necessary.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with teachers, therapists, and staff.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Education, Psychology, ABA, Social Behavior, or related fields.
  • Candidates with an Associate's degree plus 1-3 years of experience supporting students with autism or behavioral challenges will be considered.
  • Solid understanding of autism spectrum disorder and behavioral interventions.
  • Ability to remain calm and effectively manage behavioral incidents including aggression or elopement.
  • Basic computer proficiency for documentation.
  • Professionalism, reliability, and teamwork orientation are essential.
Hours:
  • Approximately 32.5 to 35 hours per week following the school calendar (tentative contract end date June 12, 2026).
