Overview

Provides customer-focused service in a retail pharmacy setting, supporting pharmacy operations under supervision to ensure a positive customer experience and accurate processing of prescriptions.

Responsibilities
  • Models and delivers a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
  • Registers sales on the assigned cash register and provides courteous, fair, friendly, and efficient checkout service.
  • Assists the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy. Uses pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions, in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Engages customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolves customer issues and answers questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Models and shares customer service best practices with all team members to deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience, including interpersonal habits and Walgreens service traits.
  • Provides customers with courteous, friendly, fast, and efficient service; suggests items for sale and trade-up or companion items.
  • Registers customer purchases, handles cash and change, and processes returns, exchanges, voids, refunds, and rain checks as needed. Assists customers in locating products when possible.
  • Keeps counters and shelves clean and merchandised, takes inventory, and maintains records. Checks in and prices merchandise as required.
  • Performs duties as assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist and Store Manager, including entering patient and drug information, filling prescriptions, verifying medicine, and checking for interactions. Assists pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow.
  • Reports prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty and adheres to company policies in relation to pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program. Complies with Pharmacy Code of Conduct and Good Faith Dispensing policies.
  • Handles telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist’s personal attention and processes third-party claims in a timely manner.
  • Supports Pharmacy Department on inventory management activities, including ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipments. Maintains knowledge of asset protection techniques and files claims for discrepancies involving Rx drugs.
  • Ensures compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products (e.g., alcoholic beverages and tobacco).
  • Maintains displays and completes resets as directed; assists with product rotation and stock placement according to policy.
  • Assists with store maintenance to ensure a clean, neat, orderly store condition and appearance; supports exterior and interior maintenance as needed.
  • Performs special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
Training & Personal Development
  • Earns and maintains PTCB certification through the designated PTCB training program and/or state-required certification/registration.
  • Attends training and completes PPLs requested by Manager or assigned by corporate; maintains knowledge and skills in healthcare and pharmacy, including latest developments.
Basic Qualifications
  • Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English. (Except in Puerto Rico)
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekend hours.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
  • Prefer prior work experience with Walgreens.
  • Prefer good math skills to fill prescriptions accurately (counting, measuring, weighing).
  • Prefer good computer skills and knowledge of store inventory control.
  • Prefer PTCB certification.
