Gateway Foundation’s Rawlins location offers a unique opportunity to work in a maximum‑security male facility, serving specialized programs in a structured, therapeutic environment. Work Schedule

Monday to Friday, flexible hours between 7:00 AM and 4:00 PM (40‑hour week).

Peer Recovery Specialists are responsible for:
  • Provides support to clients by assisting with treatment goals for recovery through group sessions and helps clients to understand actions needed to successfully achieve treatment goals.
  • Serves as a member of the treatment team by monitoring client behavior and reporting client observations, incidents or unusual occurrences; contributes to decisions regarding treatment plans, conflict intervention or privileges. Assists team in maintaining consistent setting for treatment, and planning and coordinating client interaction events.
  • Aides clients in making the transition from incarceration to community by serving as an example of sober living and identifying resources, services and support groups to be used in facilitating the transition.
  • Guides and assists clients in complying with program rules and regulations. Notifies appropriate personnel of residents failing to comply with Center policies and rules.
  • Documents and maintains records which may include recording group hours, therapeutic treatments, activity or group participation, and so forth; in accordance with the contractual requirements. Ensures records are complete, accurate, and up to date.
  • Participates in Performance Improvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as they might be assigned.
Job Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Substance abuse, correctional, or criminal justice work environment experience desired
  • Current Wyoming Peer Specialist Certification or a ability to obtain certification as a Peer Specialist in the State of Wyoming within a year of employment
  • Willing to train to upgrade to Forensic Peer Specialist Certification
  • Must be able to obtain Wyoming Department of Corrections clearance
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to walk or move about facilities for up to two hours at a time, to monitor and interact with clients
