RAK Ports is seeking an experienced and dynamic Marine Services Manager to join our Marine Department and play a key role in managing our diverse fleet and supporting safe, efficient port operations.
In this dynamic and operationally critical role, you will be responsible for the performance, safety, maintenance, and regulatory compliance of a range of marine assets including tugs, multicats, pilot vessels, pollution response units, and support craft. You will also contribute to the broader marine department, supporting port operations, VTS, pilotage, and emergency response.
This position requires a hands-on leader with strong operational acumen and deep knowledge of port marine services. We are looking for someone who can lead today’s fleet with excellence and understands the wider picture of port safety, performance, and regulatory frameworks.
While this is not a Harbour Master role, prior exposure to VTS, pilotage, and harbour operations will be considered an asset, especially for candidates with long-term ambitions in senior marine leadership.
Key Responsibilities- Lead marine fleet operations ensuring high standards in safety, performance, and compliance.
- Oversee maintenance, dry docking, crew training, and survey schedules.
- Support the Marine Department in operational planning, incident response, and compliance with the Port Marine Safety Code.
- Collaborate with stakeholders on marine project development and continuous improvement.
- Act as a technical advisor on towage, tug operations, harbour movements, and pollution response.
- Maintain accurate reporting and participate in audits, risk assessments, and marine investigations.
- Deputise for the Harbour Master when required.
- Experience in the marine/port industry ideally with strong towage and harbour experience.
- Valid Certificate of Competency (min. Chief Mate) or other relevant and suitable qualifications.
- Strong leadership, communication, crew management, and technical knowledge of vessel operations.
- Familiarity with international marine safety standards and ISO systems.
- Ability to handle multi-stakeholder coordination and maintain high operational standards.
- Hands-on tug and vessel management experience across multiple port operations.
- Interest or past exposure in VTS, pilotage, and Harbour Master-related responsibilities.
- Strong digital literacy to support performance monitoring and marine reporting.
- A mindset geared toward operational excellence, safety, and long-term impact.
