Overview
Title: Director of Insurance & Risk Management
Location: Raritan, NJ (5x in office)
Salary: $180,000k + $200,000k + bonus + excellent benefits (salary DOE)
Summary:
Our client, a real estate development company, is seeking their first Director of Insurance & Operations to lead insurance, risk management, and benefits coordination across its real estate portfolio, including residential, retail, and construction operations. This role manages all property, casualty, liability, and workers’ compensation insurance, oversees claims and workplace safety initiatives, and administers a captive insurance company. Additional responsibilities include managing surety bonds, employee benefits (in collaboration with HR), and HOA associations.
The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience within risk management or insurance account management, strong organizational and communication skills, and expertise in insurance operations and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities- Manage application and renewal processes, endorsements, and insurance policy compliance with lender and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain up-to-date Statement of Values and all insurance databases.
- Oversee placement and tracking of builder’s risk, flood, cyber, environmental, and specialty policies, including private lines such as aircraft, marine, and unique commercial exposures.
- Track any ongoing litigation and association financial obligations.
- Maintain equipment lease schedules, cost allocations and processing vendor invoices.
- Manage all subdivision, performance, maintenance, and other surety bonds.
- Analyze benefits data and assist in resolving employee claim and provider issues.
- Monitor claim activity and trend analysis for all lines of insurance and coordinate claims handling and settlements.
- Work with external consultants, actuaries, brokers, auditors, and attorneys to ensure the captive’s effectiveness and alignment with company risk strategy.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in insurance, risk management, or operations within real estate or construction.
- Strong knowledge of commercial insurance products and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to go into office 5x a week.
The specific compensation for this role will be determined based on the education, experience, location and skill set of the individual selected for this position.
