Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is currently seeking a summer intern to join our Computer Vision team located in the United States. The internship is a 10–12 week summer research internship for PhD students, focused on deep learning algorithms for ophthalmology imaging (OCT, OCTA, FAF, Fundus, etc.). Participants will work within a cross‑functional pharmaceutical environment, gaining technical exposure and insight into algorithm development for clinical trials, mentored by experienced scientists.
Responsibilities- Design, develop, implement and validate innovative deep learning solutions addressing high‑priority computer vision challenges in medical imaging.
- Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams of scientists, engineers, and clinicians to advance algorithm and product development and improve project outcomes.
- Clearly communicate complex technical methodologies and present findings to diverse audiences and stakeholders to support informed decision‑making.
- Prepare and draft manuscripts outlining development methodologies to contribute to the scientific community.
- Actively pursuing a PhD in a field related to deep learning and computer vision, such as computer science, medical informatics, biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related discipline (equivalent experience will also be considered).
- Strong publication record with the ability to effectively communicate technical work to a broad audience. Publications in conferences such as CVPR, ICLR, ICCV, ICML, MICCAI, ACL, and NeurIPS are preferred but not mandatory.
- Fluent in English.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a matrix organization and participate effectively both independently and as part of multiple teams.
- Capacity to work under strict timelines.
- Strong programming skills in Python and PyTorch.
- Demonstrated solid foundation in applying deep learning techniques for computer vision and image analysis, particularly in object detection and image segmentation.
- Experience working with ophthalmology imaging data is highly preferred.
- Experience working with JSON and pandas is preferred.

Compensation & Benefits- Hourly pay range: $31.00–$59.00 per hour, based on program year, discipline, degree, and experience.
