Overview
At Scull Construction, a Carpenter Laborer is responsible for assisting carpenters and carpenters’ helpers in building, installing, designing, and repairing structures, fixtures, furniture, and other items using materials such as wood, plastic, metal, and other materials. The role involves working with an exceptional team on challenging projects in the northern plains region.
SalaryPay: $16 - $22 per hour

- Retrieve material, pick up job site, sweep floors, assist carpenters, carpenter’s helpers, and superintendents as needed
- Operate equipment such as a gas saw, Bobcat, and forklift
- Take direction and accomplish duties outlined by your supervisor; ask questions when you do not understand the task
- Be dependable to your team: work as a team and progress as a team
- Assist with all tasks, even if it is below your skill level
- No minimum education requirements
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening and random employee pool drug/alcohol testing
- Must have personal transportation to and from job sites, including out-of-town work
- Must arrive on time to the job site fit for duty for required shift and have personal protective equipment (PPE) and necessary tools with you
- Attend all safety meetings and maintain safe job site practices following company policy
- Wear and maintain PPE as directed by supervisor and safety team, including hard hats, safety glasses, and high visibility vests
- Willingness to learn and master new tasks, duties, and responsibilities
- Pay attention to job details to provide an acceptable uniform product
- Identify and communicate any job site hazards
- Safely and correctly operate all equipment and manual/power tools; do not operate equipment or tools unless trained
- Keep all tools in good, clean, and operating order
- Demonstrate and promote safety and proper housekeeping on all job sites
- Display a positive attitude towards the company, fellow employees, and customers
- Be responsible for working unsupervised and complete work as directed
- Willingness to travel out-of-town
- Work overtime as required, including some weekends
- Maintain acceptable personal hygiene
- Dress appropriately for working conditions
- Must have required tools listed below within 30 days of hire and bring them with you to the job site as needed

- Able to physically lift heavy materials (up to 75 pounds) frequently throughout the work shift
- Ability to safely climb up and down ladders
- Ability to work alone once instructions have been given
- Able to complete a full day’s assignments involving standing, sitting, bending, stooping, squatting, crawling, climbing, kneeling, balancing, pushing, pulling, reaching overhead, and repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers
- Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment and any other safety-related equipment
- Able to work from various heights via ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and other safe work platforms over 10 feet
- Able to work in extreme weather conditions and elements, indoor or outdoor, including heat, cold, rain, mud, dust, and snow depending on the job location
- Able to work a minimum of 8 hours a day, with overtime and off-hour shifts as required
