Carpenters are required to perform a variety of tasks including erecting and setting forms for vertical and horizontal concrete structures and site work, per specifications and drawings.

Essential Job Functions:

• Perform Journeyman level Carpentry work
• Read and interpret measuring tools (tape measure, speed square, framing square) to perform tasks accurately
• Read and interpret project plans, blueprints, and other written instructions and diagrams
• Fully understand Plant North and drawing coordinates
• Set and place forms to proper elevations and location; prepare the base and install proper reinforcing
• Experience in setting and erecting forms using a wide variety of materials and forming systems for vertical and horizontal concrete forming
• Mark cutting and assembly lines on materials; shape materials to prescribed measurements and assemble, fasten with nails, dowel pins or glue
• Verify accuracy of structures with plumb bob and carpenter’s level
• Perform general carpentry tasks (e.g., build and install barricades, decks, shelves) as required on site
• Form and finish walls, footers, grade beams, etc.
• Lay out and properly build and place embeds and anchor bolts
• Construct forms and chutes for pouring concrete
• Assist in placing/tying rebar and in placing and finishing concrete
• Disassemble, remove, and clean form materials
• Erect scaffolding and ladders for work above ground level
• Work with other crafts as directed by supervision; take direction from higher skilled workers
• Have basic knowledge of heavy industrial construction processes
• Support project with other tasks as directed by supervision
• Master Journeyman may direct a small crew and mentor Journeymen and Helpers

Education and Work Experience

• 4 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
• NCCER Certification/License (preferred)
• Minimum 4 years of experience in a Journeyman level role

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Knowledge of MIC Health and Safety programs and project-specific regulations
• Ability to participate in daily toolbox meetings with crews and subcontractors
• Demonstrate safe behavior and set a personal example
• Read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic and measurement tasks
• Strong problem-solving and following instructions
• Other duties as assigned

• Work up to a 12-hour shift performing hard physical work in varying temperatures and outside conditions
• Maintain physical strength and stamina; lift up to 50 pounds; perform prolonged physical tasks
• Climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and balance; work at heights with appropriate safety equipment
• Move in and around confined, cluttered, and uneven areas
• Exposure to elements such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, and loud noises
• Good vision and hearing; hand-eye coordination

This is a full-time position typically averaging 50 hours per week; schedule is subject to project requirements.

Travel up to 90% required. Position requires presence on the project site with intermittent travel to residence of record.
