Assist in making sure our residents have pleasant and enjoyable dining experience. The Food Service Assistant is responsible for certain duties including, but not limited to, preparing and serving resident meals, monitoring and recording proper temperature of food, setting up and maintaining a clean and sanitized serving area, restocking food areas, cleaning and sanitizing equipment, and other related responsibilities.
Job Description- Help provide a job that makes a difference in someone’s life by assisting with meals and dining services.
- Serve nutritious, appealing meals to residents; assist with preparing menu items, snacks and supplements following physician’s orders, standards and regulations.
- Clear tables, sanitize equipment and tables; perform other cleaning duties in the dining area and kitchen/work areas, including washing, drying, restocking dishes, pots and pans, and emptying trash as assigned.
- Interact with elderly residents to ensure a pleasant dining experience; maintain dignity, privacy, and confidentiality of personal information.
- Provide residents with opportunities for independence and choice consistent with their care plans; safeguard residents’ property.
- Observe, measure, and document food and fluid intakes as assigned; report changes in residents’ condition to appropriate staff.
- Use EMR accurately; check equipment before use; report problems to supervisors or maintenance staff.
- Operate dishwashing and kitchen equipment safely; follow location infection control policies and procedures, OSHA, and CDC guidelines applicable to serving food, assisting residents, and cleaning.
- Complete all necessary in-person and electronic trainings; attend required department meetings.
- This position is accountable for complying with all related laws, regulations, company policies and procedures pertaining to the role.
- Possess the ability to work independently when necessary; understand food safety and sanitation processes; be able to stand for most of the day and walk long distances.

- Minimum of 16 years of age.
- Previous customer service experience; retail counting and reconciliation of money; knowledge of food service preferred.
- Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written directions; basic math skills.
- On-the-job training will be provided.
- Depending upon location of hire, Serv Safe may be required within a designated time frame.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) may be required depending upon location requirements.
