Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for night shifts in a high-acuity, mixed ICU environment with TNCC certification required.

Responsibilities

• Work in a mixed ICU (MICU, SICU, CICU, TICU) in a large hospital setting

• Patient population includes complex surgical, medical, cardiac, neuro, and trauma cases

• ICU nurse to patient ratios are 1:1, 1:2, and rarely 1:3 depending on acuity

• Uses Epic for charting, Alaris (transitioning to Baxter), and Omnicell systems

• Shift is 12-hour nights with a 48 hour per week schedule

• Possible float to adult Med Surg/Tele units (1:4 ratio) if overstaffed

• Cardiac post-op cases (CABG/TAVR) care preferred but not required for travelers

• Orientation includes hospital orientation plus one 12-hour and one 8-hour ICU shift

• Provide critical care to a varied and high-acuity patient population

Collaborative team includes nurse aides, charge RNs, RTs, intensivists, and APPs

• Navy scrubs required

• No call requirements

• Weekend rotation is aimed for every other weekend but not guaranteed

• No requests for time off approved during holidays or the Sturgis Bike Rally (first 3 weeks of August)

• Not eligible for local travelers; must reside at least 100 miles from any Monument Health facility

• Former permanent staff must wait one year before returning as a traveler

• Support includes resource nurses, IV/VAT team for midlines, and 24/7 respiratory therapy

• Free parking available on site

Requirements

• Active SD or Compact RN license required

• BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and TNCC required; willingness to obtain TNCC prior to start is mandatory

• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience (excluding travel experience) strongly preferred; will consider 1.5 years with significant additional RN experience

• Completion of a board-approved nursing program required

• Prior travel assignment required—first-time travelers not accepted

• Experience with Epic required

• IV medication administration (vasopressors, sedation, paralytics), ventilator management, telemetry, hemodynamic lines, proning, and strong critical thinking required

• Impella, IABP, and CRRT experience strongly preferred

• Must be comfortable with a 48 hours/week contract
