Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a mixed critical care unit with night shifts and TNCC certification required.
Responsibilities- Work in a 39-bed mixed adult ICU (MICU, SICU, CICU, TICU) in a hospital setting
- Patient population includes complex medical, surgical, cardiac, neuro, and trauma cases
- Common diagnoses include ARDS, MI, stroke, COVID, post-cardiac cath, post-surgical, and multiple trauma
- Patient ratios are acuity dependent: typically 1:1 or 1:2, rare 1:3
- 12-hour night shifts with weekend rotation as scheduled
- Epic is the required charting system
- Use of Alaris and Omnicell equipment
- May float to other adult units (such as Med Surg/Tele) if overstaffed; ICU RNs may float to ED
- Responsibilities include managing high-acuity ICU patients with a heavy trauma and cardiac focus
- Unit support includes CNAs, charge and resource nurses, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, 24/7 RT support, and intensivist coverage
- Hospital orientation and ICU orientation includes one 12-hour and one 8-hour shift
- No on-call requirements
- No RTO allowed during holiday periods or during the Sturgis Bike Rally (first three weeks of August annually)
- Navy scrubs are required for this unit
- Free parking is available
- Active SD or compact RN license
- Current BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and TNCC certifications (TNCC must be obtained prior to start if not already held)
- Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience (excluding travel); 1.5 years with strong additional RN experience may be considered
- At least one prior travel assignment required; first-time travelers not accepted
- Epic documentation experience required
- Experience with ICU patient care including IV medications, vasopressors, sedation, hemodynamic lines, ventilator management, telemetry, and proning
- Impella, IABP, and CRRT experience strongly preferred
- Must reside at least 100 miles from any Monument Health facility
- Permanent staff must have a one-year gap before returning as travelers
