Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN with ortho/neuro/ENT circulation experience and a South Dakota or compact RN license.
Responsibilities- Work in a hospital operating room with a 4-bed unit
- Typical daily case load ranges from 7 to 13 cases
- Surgical case types include orthopedics, podiatry, neurosurgical, pain management, and ENT procedures such as total joints, ORIF, laminectomy, fusion, discectomy, ACDF, microsurgery, pain injections, and club foot repairs
- Schedule consists of 8-hour variable shifts with 40 hours per week
- Call is typically required twice per week, with details discussed during manager interview
- Holiday coverage required for 2 out of 4 major holidays
- Floating may be required to another hospital OR if needed
- Uses the Epic EMR system;
Epic experience is preferred but not required - Work as part of a team with support from resource nurse and anesthesia/CRNA team
- Phlebotomy support is available on the unit
- No IV/VAT team, respiratory therapy, or hospitalist support
- 1st day computer training followed by 2-3 days of orientation with a preceptor
- Scrubs are provided
- Free parking available at the facility
- Active RN license for South Dakota or a compact state
- Minimum 1.5 years of recent OR RN experience per system requirement
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
- Completion of a board-approved nursing education program
- Circulation experience in orthopedic, neuro, and ENT cases required
- First-time travelers considered only with at least 2 years of experience
- Must reside at least 100 miles from any Monument Health facility
- Previous permanent staff must wait one year before returning as travelers
